- Story Text: The soccer champions on Congo-Kinshasa, "Englebert" beat the champions of Congo-Brazzaville' "Cara", 3-0 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Sunday (May 24) in the first leg of an eliminating round for the African Club Champions Cup.
The match was watched by three President: Felix Houphouet-Boigny (Ivory Coast), Bernard Bongo (Gabon) and Francois Tombalbaye (Chad).
The African Football Confederation decided that the first leg be played in the Ivory Coast and the return match in two weeks time in Yaounde, in Cameroun.
FIRST HALF: Englebert playing Left to Right.
In the 44th minute Kalonzo, the Englebert centre-forward (No.9), put the Congo-Kinshasa team in the lead and that remained the score at half-time.
SECOND HALF: Cara playing Left to Right.
Kalonzo scored again early in the second half to put Englebert farther ahead and in the 75th minute Saidi Leonard (No.10) made victory certain with a third goal.
The game was watched by 40,000 spectators.
