- Story Text: A team of Brazilian rubber experts have been in the Ivory coast visiting rubber plantations and inspecting the rubber factory of the Institute for Rubber Research in Africa (IRCA). The delegation leader Mr. Mario lima told journalists that his seven man mission had come to the Ivory Coast to look at experiments in rubber cultivation.
He added the delegation was also looking into the possibility of buying rubber from the Ivory Coast. Brazil imports large quantities of rubber
On Friday (July 20) the Brazilians toured the rubber factory and plantation of IRCA which produces 750 tons of rubber each year.
They were shown round by the director of the Institute M. Pierre Dreuet.
The visit follows an official visit made last year to the Ivory Coast by the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Marie Gibson Barboza. This was followed by a visit to Brazil by the Ivory coast Agriculture Minister during which co-operation agreements in the field of rubber were signed.
The Ivory Coast has greatly increased its rubber production and rubber is an important expert.
