- Story Text: A review of world cocoa prices figured largely on the agenda of delegates from the six states in the Cocoa Producers' Alliance, opening their 22nd general assembly in Abidjan last week (February 27th). At the start of the first session, the Ivory Coast Agriculture Minister, M. Abdoulays Sawadogo, said that although the current prices were good, member countries had to take production costs into account and it was appropriate for them to charge more.
The six member countries -- The Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon and Brazil -- were also scheduled to discuss the present state of supply quotas of cocoa beans and to re-examine the whole role of the Alliance.
