- Story Text: For many African nations, exporting manufactured goods to Europe remains a dream. Some export raw materials, or processed raw materials, but few mange to find a European market for anything but tourist souvenirs.
In Abidjan, a factory has managed to procure a French order for 200,000 pairs of trousers. "MACODI", (Manufacture de confection de Cote-d'Ivorie) is a private concern created in 1962 by three French businessmen. Since the company's foundation, all profits have been ploughed back as capital investment and following the order, 1971 profits are now expected to amount to 800 million CFA francs.
