Around 7,000 people, including civilians and military personnel, marched in the parade. The public gathered early on Avenida Presidente Vargas to watch the military pass by. As well as marking another year of Brazilian Independence, the event also commemorated the 80th anniversary of Brazil's participation in the Second World War. Also, a protest was staged against the army and extreme right-wing politics after the Brazilian independence parade.
