- Story Text: Brazilian forward Ronaldinho, 2002 World Cup champion who was recently hired by Queretaro football club, promised on Friday (September 12) to give his new team its first title while he continued his success story in Mexican football.
The 'Gallos Blancos' ('White Hens') of Queretaro shook the transfer market last week with the addition of Ronaldinho.
The hiring was just within the deadline that Mexican clubs had for recruiting foreign players.
"I have had opportunities (to play) in teams in most parts of the world and as I explained earlier in the conversation that I had with my brother, with the president and with all the group, they won me over. Also, I've always wanted to live here and therefore I came to continue my story in Mexico," said the football great after being presented with shirt number, 49.
Ronaldinho, who didn't make the World Cup Brazil squad this year, arrived to the Mexican league after winning the Libertadores Cup with Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in 2013.
Before winning the Libertadores Cup, the Brazilian won the league with Spanish team Barcelona in 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, in addition to the Champions League in 2006.
With Milan, he won the Serie A in the 2010-2011 season.
"I've always lived in the same way and in all the teams that I have been with, they have come out as champions so I look forward to doing the same here. Living in the same way and winning," added Ronaldinho.
In his country, he has played with Gremnio and Flamengo and he also played in France with Paris Saint-Germain.
The named best player in the world in 2004 and 2005 has signed a contract with the 'Gallos Blancos' of Queretaro for two years.
In the first championship of the season, known as the Apertura (Opening), Queretaro is located in eighth place with ten points after three wins, one draw and three defeats.
On the ninth day of the tournament, Queretaro will play Puebla at home on Friday night (September 12) but Ronaldinho will not play. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
