- Story Text: Brazilian striker Ronaldo has ended speculation about
his next career move saying he intends to stay on at Inter
Milan as he opened a rehabilitation centre
and a school in his native Rio de Janeiro.
Denying that he would move to Real Madrid or any other
big European team, Brazilian striker Ronaldo said his future
is with Inter Milan and he expects to be a champion in the
Italian Serie A this season.
The comments were made on Monday (July 8) at the opening
of a school of physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre that
Ronaldo is partly funding as a joint venture.
Ronaldo, who scored both winning goals in the World Cup
Championship, has said that his return to soccer after knee
injuries was largely due to the physical therapist Nilton
Petrone.
According to the Pele Web site, Ronaldo put up 5 million
reals (1.75 million U.S. dollars) and requested that Petrone
coordinate the courses and rehabilitation centre.
The two units, a joint venture with the Estacio de Sa
University, form the R9 Campus, R for Ronaldo, 9 for the
number on his national team jersey.
R9 will offer undergraduate courses in physiotherapy,
namely the poor.
The 2002 World Cup top scorer with eight said in the
long term, he would like to one day come back to play in
Brazil, preferably in Rio and at Flamengo, the team he
supported as a child.
