  • Story Text: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump attended a remembrance event in Doral, Florida on Monday (October 7) where he blamed the current U.S. leadership for the Hamas attacks one year ago that sparked the war in Gaza.
    Trump said he was committed to reinforcing the ties between the U.S. and Israel and repeated a phrase he has used over the past year — "the October 7th attack would never have happened if I was president".
    Trump also mentioned the approaching Category 5 hurricane expected to make landfall in Florida, noting his decision to travel to Florida despite the impending storm.
    Hurricane Milton strengthened into a Category 5 storm on Monday, posing an immediate threat to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula on its way to Florida, where the state ordered mass evacuations while still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Helene.
