  • Story Text: Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz brought the circus to Berlin on Wednesday (April 27) with both actors hitting the red carpet for the premiere of their new romantic movie "Water for Elephants." The film, which follows an unlikely love story, co-stars Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon, who did not make an appearance at the event in the German capital.
    The film begins as Jacob, played by Pattinson, is about to complete his degree in veterinary studies at Cornell University. However, the untimely death of his parents leaves him lost, alone and in debt. After abandoning his studies, Jacob joins a circus as an animal vet and trainer. He soon develops a special bond with a particularly difficult elephant, Rosie, and then with Marlena, played by Witherspoon, who must learn to ride it. When romantic sparks start to fly between Jacob and Marlena, life gets dangerous.
    Pattinson says the film offered him many opportunities that he could not turn down.
    "If you are working with animals, wild animals, everything is fresh, every scene, you can never predict what they are gonna do. So it makes your job a lot easier just reacting to them. And I think working with Reese and Christoph, I mean they are acknowledged as being the best, and that's kind of always what you wanted, it's a collaborate art form. So you just want to work with the best, it just makes you better."
    "Water for Elephants" also stars Christoph Waltz as August, the ruthless head circus trainer and husband of Marlena. The Austrian actor won an Academy Award for his performance in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" and since then according to Waltz many things have changed.
    " I can choose from the best movies and pick the ones that interest me most," he said.
    "Water for Elephants" hits German cinemas on April 28.
