U.S. Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump returned to Georgia for a rally on Monday (October 28) where an excited crowd said he could turn a close contest into a solid victory with just over a week to go until polling day.
The speech at a university campus in central Atlanta came after a meeting with faith leaders in the city’s suburbs.
Many people in the audience at Georgia Institute of Technology were young, including first time voter Cesar Biera and Katelyn Vinson, who backed him in 2020.
“I think he's just really powerful. He gives us a lot of confidence within talking to other world leaders and he knows how not to start wars. And I think he's just badass. He's awesome,” she said.
Pastor Trina Olson who is registered to vote in another swing state, Pennsylvania, came wearing a t-shirt reading “Trump, God and Guns” and said she believed God would use the former president to bring Americans back to God.
Early voting is already underway in Georgia and the Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office said on Monday that 2.73 million people in the state had already voted.
