- Story Text: A dozen volunteers gathered at the weekend to try and clean up the Neretva River after debris and waste brought by recent floods clogged the dam near the Grabovica power plant.
Volunteers from the nearby town of Jablanica, which was hit by floods earlier in October, assisted power plant employees in using heavy machinery to remove the waste.
“Significant accumulation of waste and debris occurred following the recent floods and landslides,” said volunteer Haris Cosic.
Jablanica is part of the southwestern Herzegovina-Neretva canton, which was hit hardest during the country's deadliest floods in years, resulting in the loss of 16 lives and the destruction of houses and cut-off villages.
