- Story Text:From Cuba to Argentina, people across Latin America on Wednesday (November 6) expressed their concerns as well as hope for the next president of the United States Donald Trump.
In recession-weary Argentina, people hoped Trump’s good relationship with President Javier Milei would favor their economy. Argentina's dollar bonds jumped in early trade on Wednesday and the country's risk index 11EMJ dropped sharply.
Venezuelans expressed concern on how Trump’s anti-migration policies could affect their fellow citizens in the United States.
Havana residents were pessimistic, saying that Cuba’s economy would be seriously affected by Trump’s second term.
Trump, 78, recaptured the White House on Wednesday after a campaign marked by dark rhetoric that deepened the polarization in the country, prevailing after two attempts on his life and a late decision by Democrats to run Kamala Harris when President Joe Biden withdrew from the race in July.
