- Story Text:Some Muslim voters in Philadelphia think Donald Trump's victory could threaten their rights while others expect him to keep his promises of peace for the Middle East
Sammira Cherfaoui told Reuters on Thursday (November 7) that she felt disappointed because "our voices are never heard" and that she had hoped people would vote for "someone that could help with our getting our message out there."
Now, she's afraid of losing women's rights and religious freedoms, Cherfaoui, who works in a local store, added.
Tauqeer Khan, who works in a food truck, said that while Donald Trump didn't do enough for Muslims during his last presidency, he hopes Trump will work to end ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Trump, 78, recaptured the White House on Wednesday by securing more than the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the presidency, Edison Research projected.
Trump says he will reinstitute the so-called "travel ban" that restricts entry into the United States of people from a list of largely Muslim-dominant countries, which sparked multiple legal battles during his first term.
