Story Text:Claude Monet’s Nympheas netted $59 million (USD) during Sotheby’s autumn art sale in New York City on Monday (November 18).
The 17 minute bidding started at $40 million before landing on $59 million ($65.5 million with fees).
The painting was part of the collection of late beauty industry entrepreneur Sydell Miller.
This was the first time the piece had come up for auction.
