- Story Text:Residents across Santa Rosa, California, have been drenched by relentless rain brought by the atmospheric river. The deluge has caused major flooding and brought down power lines and trees.
A felled tree caused by saturation knocked the power out at the 4th Street Apartments, leaving some residents in the dark, as the Santa Rosa Creek raged in their backyard.
John and Silvia Elze, long-time Santa Rosa residents and both retired, have been nervously watching the water level rise.
“My biggest fear is that these are going to wash away. We're renters here, thank goodness. So it's not our financial concern, but it does put us in a position of where do we go?” said Silvia Elze.
Longtime tenants told Reuters the creek levels are not uncommon but this has been the most rain they’ve experienced this early in the season,
According to local officials, Santa Rosa has received up to 10 inches of rain and will continue into the weekend.
