I want to be the president not of a majority, because nobody has a majority although the (republican) coalition was the most-voted political project on October 27 (first round vote). I don’t want to be a president of a majority, I’ve changed my mind. I want to be the president of agreements. In this sense, I want to show openness to agreements and form a national unity government. I hope everybody has understood this message and changed his mindset.” VARIOUS OF DELGADO TALKING TO MEDIA (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) RULING NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE, ALVARO DELGADO, SAYING: “There are two models, there are candidates that represent two models. I think I represent the future, continuity and certainty. I don’t want to talk about party politics. The other project I think represents uncertainty and a comeback to the past.” VARIOUS OF DELGADO TALKING TO PRESS (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) RULING NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE, ALVARO DELGADO, SAYING: “I was very clear the other day when I spoke to the election winner (in Venezuela), (Edmundo) Gonzalez Urrutia and with (opposition leader) Maria Corina Machado, that I wanted to invite them to my inauguration. Obviously, I will not invite (president Nicolas) Maduro because to me, the elections in Venezuela were a fraud. Venezuela is a dictatorship and on January 10, if Maduro doesn’t hand it the power, will confirm he’s a de facto president.” VARIOUS OF DELGADO POSING FOR PHOTOGRAPHS WITH SUPPORTERS

Uruguay’s ruling party candidate, Alvaro Delgado, said he would not invite Venezuela’s President, Nicolas Maduro, to his inauguration if he wins the second-round race in Sunday’s (November 24) contested presidential election.
Delgado spoke to the media outside the polling station in Montevideo where he cast his vote, stating that he had spoken with Venezuela’s opposition candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado.
Delgado declared Venezuela’s July 28 presidential vote to be fraudulent, a claim contrary to the Venezuelan election officials' and top court's assertion of Maduro's victory. The opposition maintains that tallies collected by its observers demonstrate a clear victory for Gonzalez.
The vote in the small nation of 3.4 million people sees opposition center-left candidate Yamandu Orsi take on continuity Delgado, who has the backing of a third-placed ally.
Final opinion polls suggest the Nov. 24 runoff promises to be razor tight, with fewer than 25,000 votes potentially separating the frontrunners.
