- Story Text: A large Syrian opposition flag was on Sunday (December 8) stuck on the front door of the country’s embassy in London, as a city worker unloaded crowd barriers and police maintained a low-key presence.
The flag, recognisable by its three red stars contrasted brashly with the government flag that was still flying from the embassy’s flagpole, bearing two stars.
The flag drew passing interest as local residents passed by, but the atmosphere in the plush central London neighbourhood remained calm at midday on a rainy Sunday.
The embassy has been closed since 2013, following the escalation of violence during the Syrian civil war.
