PEOPLE VISITING GALLERY SCRIPT The painting "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan" returned to exhibition at Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery on Monday (Dec. 16). A ceremony was held prior to the unveiling of the painting, displayed in a custom-designed glass case, with Tretyakov Gallery officials and restoration experts in attendance. During the event, the various phases of the restoration process were also displayed alongside the artwork. According to Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova, the restoration was carried out using unique equipment to ensure the utmost delicacy. "Ivan the Terrible and His Son" had been seriously damaged when a man attacked it with a pole in 2018. Created by Russian artist Ilya Repin in 1885, the painting depicts Ivan the Terrible holding his son Ivan after fatally injuring him in the head in a fit of rage.
