After the collapse of the Baath regime, mass graves are being unearthed as part of search and survey activities across the country. A statement by the anti-regime groups that carried out excavation works in Daraa said that a mass grave was discovered in Izraa district. The statement noted that 31 bodies have been found so far in the works carried out with construction equipment. While noting that there are more than 12 mass graves in the region, it stated that the number of bodies detected may increase. The images shared about the mass grave area show that excavation works continue with the participation of construction equipment and citizens. Earlier, Anadolu crews captured the mass grave in the Baghdad Bridge area outside Damascus, where the remains of bodies believed to belong to civilians killed by the collapsed Assad regime were found. It is understood that those who died due to torture and conditions in various prisons, including Sednaya Prison, were buried in the cemetery. In the footage, which showed long and deep pits dug for the bodies buried one on top of the other, sacks with prison codes and the names of the deceased were found. While it was seen that the sacks taken out of the graves were filled with the remains of corpses, eight sacks filled with the remains of corpses were taken out of one of the pits.
