- Story Text:A merchant ship was dragged by strong winds in the port of Veracruz on Wednesday (December 11), breaking its moorings and crashing into the city’s boardwalk as a cold front entered the southern coast of Mexico.
The vessel was hit by gusts exceeding 100 kilometers per hour (62.13 miles/h) due to a winter storm that had been affecting the Mexican southern region since Tuesday after the arrival of the cold front.
Tugboats were dispatched to tow the displaced ship back to its position amid the turbulent sea.
The city's civil security director also reported waves battering the boardwalk, downed trees, and damaged vehicles as the arctic air mass continued to move towards the Yucatan Peninsula on Thursday
