- Story Text: The 2024 holiday season is set to be a fusion of fresh, creative celebrations and timeless traditions.
Netflix has called upon Lindsay Lohan again for a new Christmas movie titled “Our Little Secret”. Chad Michael Murray is also gracing the Netflix platform in “The Merry Gentleman,” a film that's already drawing comparisons to “Magic Mike.” Fans of tradition will also be catered to, with “That Christmas” which is based on a trilogy by Richard Curtis, the author behind “Love Actually.” And pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is also joining in the festivities, hosting a special that features guest appearances by Shania Twain and Chappell Roan.
The Hallmark Channel, renowned for their Christmas films, has created a reality show titled “Finding Mr. Christmas” to find the network’s newest holiday hunk.
“I'm like, what if we made a show and used that show to find our next Hallmark movie, hunk? And, and that way the audience gets to go along on the journey and see the see the ride. You know, they're along for the ride to how we pick and choose which one of these hunks has that ‘it factor’, that special twinkle that makes them shine above the rest. That makes you want to make them a Hallmark hunk,” said host and judge Jonathan Bennett.
The channel has also partnered with the National Football League for “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.” Despite its sporty title, co-star Megyn Price assures fans it's a heartfelt tribute to the fans, featuring cameos from Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna, and Kansas City Chiefs' head coach, Andy Reid.
Nearly all the streaming platforms are also getting in on the holiday cheer. Disney+, for instance, will be streaming The Simpson’s festive episode “O C’mon All Ye Faithful.” If you fancy a trip to the cinema, “Red One” with Dwayne Johnson promises a blend of comedy and action for the whole family.
On the live performance front, the Radio City Rockettes are upholding their 91-year tradition with the annual “Christmas Spectacular” in New York. And blocks away Whoopi Goldberg has stepped into the role of Mrs. Hannigan in the classic musical "Annie." In New Jersey, the Paper Mill Playhouse is staging “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas: The Musical,” while London's Southwark Playhouse is premiering the risqué cabaret show “A Very Naughty Christmas.”
The holiday season wouldn't be complete without music. Brenda Lee's “Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree” has climbed to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and amassed over 1 billion streams. Additionally, Nat King Cole’s timeless classic, "The Christmas Song," secured a spot in the top 10 on the Billboard 100 this year. So, whether you're a fan of films, music, or live performances - this holiday season promises a festive feast for the senses.
