- Story Text: Prince Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud, governor of Mecca region and Chairman of Central Haj Committee held a press conference in Mina, east of the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca, on Sunday (October 28) to mark the success of this year's Haj season.
"Things went well this season. This year's Haj season can be considered as one of the most successful seasons that have passed," he said.
As he addressed reporters, Prince Khaled congratulated the Supreme Haj Committee and highlighted all efforts made by those taking part in pilgrims' services listing the facilities and equipment used to improve the pilgrims performance this year.
"There are over 120,000 security men from the security sectors this year, there are 10,000 equipment and twenty-five helicopter of Civil Defence, there are 20 helicopters of Public Security operated by 360 pilots and technicians. There are 30,000 surveillance cameras, there are 100 security patrol and 200 security centres."
Thousands of Muslim pilgrims streamed into the Saudi Arabian city of Mina on Sunday. They have come from around the world to take part in the haj - a journey to the birthplace of Islam.
More than three million people are staying in temporary tents in Mina.
"There are plans and suggestions and we hope to put an end to the problem of pilgrims who sleep on the ground. We must work out a solution for this problem starting from the next Haj," Prince Khaled said.
