VARIOUS DRONE SHOTS OF VENUE WHERE CHRISTMAS CONCERT TOOK PLACE/ CHRISTMAS TREES AND DECORATIONS ON AREA SCRIPT Following the fall of the Baath regime, a celebration of Christmas, recognised as the birth of Jesus Christ, was organised in Damascus, the capital of Syria on Tuesday, Dec. 24. The event included a concert that attracted a large audience, reflecting the festive atmosphere in the city. Meanwhile, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the interim government announced in a decree that all state institutions would be closed on December 25 and 26 for the celebration of Christmas, and public employees would be given an official holiday. Bashar Assad, Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups took control of Damascus on Dec. 8, ending the Baath Party regime, which had been in power since 1963. The takeover came after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) fighters captured key cities in a lightning offensive that lasted less than two weeks.
