- Story Text: The Israeli army on Monday (December 23) displayed a series of weapons they said were seized in southern Lebanon.
Speaking to the media in northern Israel, army spokesman Nadav Shoshani said many of the weapons were Iranian and had come through Syria, adding that that others were Russian, Chinese and made by Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
Shoshani said that Hezbollah had fired 18,000 rockets and missiles during the war in the north.
A ceasefire deal was signed last month between Israel and Hezbollah. Under the terms, Israeli forces may remain in Lebanon for 60 days. Israel has not established settlements in southern Lebanon, including when its military occupied the area from 1982-2000.
