- Story Text: The heir to Britain's throne Prince Charles visited the historic town of Diriyah in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (February 19).
Diriyah is located on the north-western outshirts of Riyadh, the capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and was once the base for the Saudi royal family, serving as the capital for the first Saudi dynasty.
Prince Charles was shown several development programs to renovate the old city which include work on historic villages and neighborhoods in the Turaif district, before being presented with a gift by Prince Sultan Bin Salman, the Saudi President for Tourism and Antiquities.
His four-day trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar comes just under a year since he last toured the region.
Most of the engagements on his tour are private but this was one of the public events. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
