And since it is different from Jeju Air’s aircraft (Boeing 737-800, the aircraft which crashed), we feel less uneasy about traveling." - Story Text: Passengers at a Seoul airport on Monday (December 30) expressed their ‘uneasiness’ with air travel following the deadly Jeju Air crash which left 175 passengers and four of the six crew dead a day earlier.
The Jeju Air jet belly-landed and skidded off the end of the runway erupting in a fireball as it slammed into a wall at Muan International Airport on Sunday (December 29).
“I usually don’t feel worried when taking flights, but today I feel a bit anxious. My family (in Jeju island) has been quite concerned too, so I think that made me feel more uneasy as well,” said Oh Ji-eun, a 19-year-old resident flying home to Jeju from Seoul.
Meanwhile, another Jeju Air flight that took off from Seoul on Monday returned to the airport shortly after takeoff due to the same landing gear issue that was found in the aircraft of the same model, a Boeing B737-800, in the crash in Muan on Sunday, the company said.
"The pilot decided to return and undergo inspection for the plane’s operational safety,” Song Kyeong-hoon, head of Jeju Air’s Management Support Division, told a press briefing after the incident. “The passengers on that flight have departed for Jeju island on an alternative flight,” he added.
