- Story Text: Devotees across India offered prayers, took holy dips and performed rituals to invoke the blessings of Hindu deities to mark the first day of 2025 on Wednesday (January 01).
Some staunch devotees braved the severe winter chill in holy cities including Prayagrag and took a dip to wash away sins in the revered River Ganges.
In the city of Tirupati, in southern Andhra Pradesh state, devotees thronged the world's richest Hindu temple of Tirupati to offer prayers for an auspicious start to the new year.
People in India believe that the blessings of the gods should be sought before beginning anything new, more so at the dawn of the new year. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
