The Saudi Arabian Oil Ministers, Sheik Ahmed Zaki Yamani, has announced plans to assist Pakistan develop its energy resources. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad after discussions with the Pakistani government, Sheik Yamani also said the Saudis would consider the feasibility of a joint venture for oil exploration in Pakistan. In the past, Pakistani officials have admitted they need foreign assistance to help develop the ten known oil-bearing regions in the country. Up until now, however, Kuwait is the only government which has shown an interest in the venture.
