- Story Text: King Faisal of Saudi Arabia on Saturday (18 January) inspected officers of the Saudi army stationed in Jordan. The monarch had arrived in Amman, the capital, the previous day to an enthusiastic welcome.
The commander of the Saudi forces in Jordan, Major General Mohammed Al-Sheikh, said his men - in cooperation with other Arab armies - Were ready to liberate territory occupied by Israel since the ready to liberate territory occupied by Israel since the 1967 Middle East war. The Saudi troops have been stationed in Jordan since that time.
Major General al-Sheikh also complimented King Faisal, Jordan's King Hussein and Egyptian Prime Minister Anwar Sadat on their leadership of the Arab nations.
Later in the day, King Faisal and King Hussein met for a round of official talks, thought to have centred on the libration of Arab lands and designed to strengthen Arab solidarity.
On Friday night (17 January) King Faisal was guest of honour at a State banquet given by his host. All formalities were dropped during the evening and no speeches were exchanged ... mainly because the two monarchs are close personal friends.
