- Story Text: INTRODUCTION Prince Talal Ben Abdulaziz Al-Saoud, the brother of King Khalid of Saudi Arabia, arrived in the Seychelles on Friday (4 February) for talks with Seychelles leaders.
SYNOPSIS: Prince Talal was welcomed at Mahe Airport by President James Mancham after arriving in a Saudi Royal aircraft. President Mancham said that the visit of Prince Talal marked another important step in his policy of building closer ties of friendship and co-operation with Saudi Arabia. Prince Talal was formerly a Saudi Minister of Communications and Finance Minister.
The Seychelles leader said Saudi Arabia was playing a most important role in world affairs, and for geographic consideration alone, the Seychelles must be to her what the Caribbean is to the United States of America.
Prince Talal announced during his visit that Saudi Arabia was donating 100,000 U.S. dollars (GBP60,000 sterling) to the Seychelles for the country's development. He and President Mancham also held a series of talks aimed at improving bilateral relations between the two countries.
