- Story Text: Saudi Arabian Oil Minister Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani and Algerian Industry Minister Belaid Andessalem arrived in Paris on Monday (26 November) at the start of a Western European tour to explain the Arab nations' oil squeeze and general policy int he conflict with Israel.
They also plan to assess which countries are "friendly" to the Arab cause and qualify for exemption from the oil cuts.
The two Ministers were met at Orly Airport by French Industry Minster Jean Charbonnel and other Senior officials. They were scheduled to meet President Georges Pompidou and other members of the French Government.
SYNOPSIS: Western Europe is still waiting for some indication that the Arab nations will ease their squeeze on oil supplies. At Orly Airport, Monday, French officials awaited the arrival of two Arab Ministers who could decide whether or not the oil tap would be turned on ... Saudi Arabians Oil Minister Sheikh Ahman Zaki Yamani and Algerian Industry Minister Belaid Abdessalem arrived at the start of a Western European tour to explain the Arab nations' oil limitations, and general policy in the conflict with Israel.
Most important for the European countries suffering under oil cut-backs, the Ministers plan to assess which countries are "friendly" to the Arab cause and qualify for exemption form the oil cuts.
