By Allah’s grace, the operation successfully reached its targets.” SCRIPT: The Yemeni Houthi group announced another attack Friday, Jan. 10, against a US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea amid tensions between the group and the US, UK and Israel. The group's military spokesman Yahya Saree said fighters targeted the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier and several naval vessels in the northern Red Sea with several cruise missiles and drones. Saree claimed the attack "foiled a new assault on Yemen by the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier,” forcing it to leave the northern Red Sea. He noted that the group carried out several military operations in the last 48 hours, including an attack on the aircraft carrier and Israeli sites. “Our operations in support of Gaza will continue until the aggression ends and the siege is lifted,” he said. The US and Israel did not immediately comment on the claims. The Houthi attack was shortly after Israel, the US and Britain carried out their first coordinated attack on Houthi targets in Yemen, according to the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation. Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV reported that the strikes targeted the vicinity of the Al-Sabeen Square in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa. The Houthi group said Monday it targeted the Harry Truman in the Red Sea and also struck central and southern Israel with missiles and drones. The Houthis have targeted Israeli cargo ships or ones linked with Tel Aviv in the Red Sea with missiles and drones in a show of support with the Gaza Strip, where more than 46,000 victims have been killed in Israel’s genocidal war since October 2023. Since early 2024, a coalition led by the US has been carrying out airstrikes that it said target Houthi locations in Yemen in response to the group’s Red Sea attacks, with occasional retaliation from the Houthis.
