- Story Text: Celebrity DJ performs the first ever gig on a commercial flight, 30,000 feet above the Mediterranean en route from from Paris to Ibiza.
It was a first for French DJ David Guetta on Saturday (July 14) night when he took to the decks in an aeroplane flying 30,000 feet above the Mediterranean.
In the first ever gig on a commercial flight Guetta treated 180 passengers travelling from Paris to Ibiza to a forty minute set, playing some of his biggest hits including 'Love is Gone'.
Many of the audience had bought their tickets before the gig was announced.
"There's a group of real clubbers, who are coming for the party tonight, and then there's the, in inverted commas, 'normal' people, who will be there saying 'what's going on?" Guetta said.
The Airbus A320, had to be specially adapted to hold a DJ booth at the front.
With the shutters closed and the cabin lights dimmed there was a real club like atmosphere which the passengers enjoyed.
"It's really fantastic, it's the best experience, it's unique!" said one passenger; Sandra.
Cabin crew and passengers were dancing in the aisle, and young and old alike seemed to appreciate the music.
"It's nothing like (playing in a club); here it was completely spontaneous. At the start people were sitting down, and I didn't think they would all get up and dance, so it was great," said Guetta after the set.
When the plane touched down some of the passengers went to the club Pacha, where Guetta kicked off the Ibiza clubbing season.
This is not the first time that airline Vueling has provided unusual entertainment on its flights - in the past it has hosted a fashion show and a circus performance. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
