Being exposed to an electromagnetic field for that length of time for three days and three nights has never been done. So it's obviously going to effect - we're made out of electrons, neurons, so it's going to affect everything that I'm made out of. So we don't know actually what the effect is." - Story Text: After conquering earth, land and water, magician David Blaine plans to go toe-to-toe with one million volts of electricity for 3 days and 3 nights.
Blaine has joined forces with technology company Intel to perform what he is calling his most daring stunt ever, "Electrified." Fans around the world will be able to be a part of the stunt by going to Ultrabook stations to correspond with Blaine and the electricity.
During a press conference to preview the stunt Blaine said he has been wanting to do this for years.
"Nobody could come through and do something like this and it makes sense to do this with a technology company. So this is what I showed him and it was a drawing that I dreamed of doing. I don't know if you guys can all see that," said Blaine talking about the first time he met an Intel representative.
Wearing a custom made metal suit and special boots lined with metal Blaine perched himself on top of a platform and took numerous hits of electricity.
"It's like a static, it's like a buzz, it's like a static electricity almost, like when something runs over your arm and your hair goes up. So it's a pretty cool feeling," Blaine told Reuters.
Aside from the obvious risks that come along with being electrocuted, the native New Yorker said the biggest risks are the unknown.
"Being exposed to an electromagnetic field for that length of time for three days and three nights has never been done. So it's obviously going to effect - we're made out of electrons, neurons, so it's going to affect everything that I'm made out of. So we don't know actually what the effect is," said Blaine.
For the past decade Blaine has performed various death defying stunts - from being buried, frozen and drowned alive, to hanging upside down for 60 hours.
Now a father to a 20-month-old daughter, Blaine said he now has a new focus.
"I have a better reason to make it through in one piece."
