- Story Text: The whole world seems to have gone David Beckham mad
and the Dolce and Gabbana men's fashion show in Milan is no
exception. With the raunchy addition of an almost naked top
model, Naomi Campbell, the designers appear to have found a
winning concoction.
Meanwhile Donatella Versace's spring-summer men's
collection graced the catwalks in Milan on Sunday.
Adoration for the England captain, David Beckham, was
the central theme throughout the Dolce and Gabbana
spring-summer collection for 2004 in Milan on Sunday
(June 22).
Beckham, who is now set to leave England's Manchester
United for Real Madrid was not present at the show but was
certainly there in spirit.
Male models sporting David Beckham haircuts and David
Beckham's all-important number 7, with the name David on their
shirts paraded up and down the catwalk. They may not be any
good on a pitch but they certainly added to the glamorous aura
around the soccer icon.
The red card would certainly have been kept for top
models Naomi Campbell and Eva Herzigova. Wearing hardly
anything at all, Campbell flounced down the catwalk in a more
than flimsy swimming costume with Herzigova wearing not much
more.
Meanwhile Italian designer Donatella Versace presented a
mix of transgression and formality, of glamour and oriental
atmospheres for her 2004 spring-summer men's collection on
show in Milan on Sunday (June 22).
The Versace man took to the catwalk with baggy trousers,
grey, well-tailored jackets, neck-ties with silver and golden
lining or prints recalling the mosaics of Middle Eastern
mosques.
Shirts ranged from models with mosaic or flower prints
to plain, caftan style shirts with very long sleeves. Very
light, oriental trousers were worn with formal jackets.
The Italian fashion house seems to have placed its bets
on the world of VIP and Hollywood, snubbing even the richest
normal clients but including Hollywood stars Michael Douglas
and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
