- Story Text: The atmosphere was electric at the Capital One Arena on Monday (January 20), as a crowd of onlookers gathered to watch the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President Donald Trump on a giant screen.
The audience reacted with strong emotions to the proceedings broadcast from the U.S. Capitol, with Trump's supporters erupting in cheers whenever the president, his family, or Republican leaders appeared on screen. In contrast, the appearances of former presidents, including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden, were met with loud jeers from some in the crowd.
Donald Trump was sworn in as U.S. president on Monday, ushering in another turbulent four-year term with promises to push the limits of executive power, deport millions of immigrants, secure retribution against his political enemies and transform the role of the U.S. on the world stage.
Trump’s inauguration completes a triumphant comeback for a political disruptor who survived two impeachment trials, a felony conviction, two assassination attempts and an indictment for attempting to overturn his 2020 election loss.
