- Story Text:Germans expressed worries about U.S. President Donald Trump's second term on Tuesday (January 21), the day after his inauguration. One German, named Benjamin, said he didn't understand how Americans could vote for Trump while adding that he didn't expect things to be good for anyone expect the rich. "I think we're in for some grey times, a bit like the Middle Ages, where culture is cut back and other things become more important," said Benjamin.
A woman, named Nike, said she had a lot of worries and fears for the future and was expecting more international isolation. Paul, who immigrated from Australia, said Europe needed to be stronger now. "The days of America being our best friend have been over for a while. But now Europe really needs to take the time to strengthen itself," said Paul.
German newspaper echoed the sentiment with one calling for God to 'bless the world' and another one speculating about four more years of drama, lies and madness.
