Former soccer star and UNICEF goodwill ambassador David Beckham talked about his famous wife's upcoming documentary series, his love for Britain’s royal family as well as his philanthropic work during an event at the World Economic Forum on Tuesday (January 21).
Sitting down with host Sara Eisen, Beckham said the series about Spice Girl turned designer Victoria Beckham would show how much work she puts into her eponymous brand.
“I've never met a harder working woman than my wife and I wanted to show that,” Beckham said. “It's just going to highlight how hard she works and, and the things that she does and I think people are going to be quite surprised how she juggles things because... she's a multi-tasker and that's one thing that I don't think I am.”
The series will air on Netflix, just like his own mini-series “Beckham” did in 2023.
On Monday (January 20), the former footballer, who is a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF (the United Nations’ Children’s Fund), was honoured for his philanthropic work with the Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum.
Beckham said his current focus would be on empowering young girls.
Beckham also spoke about his charity work with Britain’s royal family, namely with Prince William, who is patron of the London Air Ambulance charity that uses helicopters to attend critically injured in the English capital. Last year, Beckham also became an ambassador for the King’s Foundation.
“I always get emotional talking about anything that I do with our royal family because I've always been a huge royalist," he said. "I was brought up in a family in a household that adored and loved everything that came with the royal family."
