VARIOUS OF PROTESTERS AT SCENE WITH FLAGS AND BANNERS THIRUVANANTHAPURAM-KERALA, INDIA (NOV. 26, 2020) (AAVN-ACCESS ALL) SCRIPT: The 24-hour nationwide general strike called by major central trade unions to protest various policies of the government has begun in India on Thursday, Nov. 26. The trade unions are protesting the new labour and farm laws and some policies of the central government. The strike affected some government services and a lot of private sectors in the country, such as financial services, transport, steel units, port and docks, plantations, telecommunication services, coal and other mines, oil and natural gas production units and power generating units At least ten major trade unions in the country, such as Indian National Trade Union Congress ( INTUC ) All India Trade Union Congress ,Centre of Indian Trade Unions ( CITU ) ,Self Employed Womens association ( SEWA ) etc . The Indian Ruling party BJP aliged Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh ( BMS ), support the one-day nationwide strike. The protests come at a time when Delhi is reeling under the second wave of coronavirus, with daily cases going above 6,000 in the capital. India reported a total of 9.26 million of COVID-19 cases with 135,223 deaths so far.
