The protesters gathered in Independence Square marched the government building in capital with the slogan “Save FOP (individual-entrepreneurs)”, demanding financial support from the government and an easing of lockdown measures. On March 20 the capital entered a three-week lockdown in response to the rising number of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations as the former Soviet republic of 41 million people has seen a sharp increase in coronavirus. Nonessential businesses such as restaurants, offices, schools and non-food stores will be closed until while a ban on public events will be in place. According to Kiev Post, the country reported a total of 1,554,256 COVID-19 cases and 30,098 so far. The country has registered 7,893 new cases on Monday. Since the start of the vaccination campaign on Feb. 24, 111,024 people in Ukraine received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and only one person received the required two doses. Only 2,715 people were vaccinated on March 21. Writing by Sibel Uygun
