EMPLOYEES LOADING SALT ON TRUCK AAVN SCRIPT Salt obtained from spring waters in the mountains in the Malazgirt district of Mus, in eastern Turkey is exported to all over the country, especially the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions. A facility, established in 2004 in Aktuzla village produces salt in a traditional way. The spring waters with high salt content are rested in pools of different sizes. Then, the water transferred to the 560 crystallized pools in the facility area is evaporated by keeping it in warm air for four days. The spring salt that settles at the bottom of the pool is collected by the workers with brushes and then transported to storage tanks with the help of tractors. The salt, which comes forward with its rich mineral structure and has protective features, is used in the brine, cheese and pickle industries. Stating that it is Turkey's largest spring salt-pan, Operating Manager Mehmet Sahin Yeler said that they contributed to both the economy and employment with the facility. "Currently, our 560 pools are active. We have 800 pools in total. We are currently draining down 140 to 150 pools per day. Our daily production is around 100 to 120 tons," said Yeler. “We send the product we produce to the south and east Anatolia region. This is Turkey's largest spring salt-pan. This facility has a production capacity of 10,000 to 12,000 tons per year,” he added. "This facility is about 17 years old, it provides employment opportunity to the surrounding provinces, has about 24 resources, besides it has 500 to 600 pools," Chairman of Mus Chamber of Industry and Trade, Erdal Koc said.
