WE ARE TALKING NOW ABOUT SOME 28 COUNTRIES THAT HAVE COMMITTED FORCES OF ONE KIND OR ANOTHER TO THIS EXTRAORDINARY HISTORIC EFFORT. HE OUGHT TO DRAW THE CONCLUSION THAT HE OUGHT TO GET OUT WITHOUT CONCESSION. THEY ARE NOT IN A THREATENING MODE, I DON'T THINK ANY OF US ARE. WE ARE IN A DETERMINED MODE, A MODE HE SHOULD GET OUT WITHOUT CONCESSION, AND THIS IS THE WILL OF THE WORLD BODY. THIS IS THE WILL OF THE ENTIRE WORLD, IF YOU WILL, AGAINST THIS MAN. AND HE HAS GOT TO UNDERSTAND IT, SO WE ARE GOING TO KEEP ON REPEATING IT. NO CONCESSION, NO NEGOTIATION FOR ONE INCH OF TERRITORY, AND MR SADDAM HUSSEIN WILL SIMPLY DO WHAT THE WORLD IS CALLING ON HIM TO DO - GET OUT. AND THAT, YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON REPEATING IT - SOME PEOPLE ARE A LITTLE SLOW TO GET THE WORD. AND WE ARE GOING JUST KEEP SAYING IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN." Initials Script is copyright Reuters Limited. United States (US) President George Bush said on Monday (December 17) that Iraq must pull out of "every square inch" of Kuwait by the January 15 United Nations (UN) deadline if it wants a peaceful resolution of the Gulf crisis.
Surrounded by ambassadors of 27 nations represented in the anti-Iraq coalition, Bush underlined the determination of the 28 nations to force a complete Iraqi withdrawal from Kuwait, and ruled out concessions to Iraq.
All 28 nations have backed a series of UN Security Council resolutions on the Gulf crisis including the most recent which authorised the use of force if Iraq failed to meet a January 15 deadline for withdrawal from Kuwait.
