For the Chinese New Year, the streets and shopping malls are decorated with accessories and lanterns reflecting the Chinese culture and the citizens went spending spree to buy gifts for loved ones. This year, the Lunar New Year holiday falls on February 1 and is typically the world's largest annual migration of people. For many, the Lunar New Year is the biggest family reunion on the calendar for which people endure hours of cramped travel on trains and buses to get home. But this year more people are expected to celebrate the feast at home due to the risk of a spike in infections, which can usually occur after such a holiday. Chinese New Year starts with the New moon on the first day of the first lunar month and ends on the Full moon 15 days later. It is always characterized by one of 12 animals that appear in the Chinese zodiac known as Sheng Xiao or Shu Xiang. According to the traditional Chinese zodiac, the world will leave left the "Year of the Ox", enter the “Year of Dragon”.
