AAVN SCRIPT: After Israeli forces withdrew from the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, they left behind a scene of extensive devastation. Streets and avenues were unrecognizable, transformed into a landscape of rubble and ashes by weeks of bombardment. Al-Amal Hospital, along with its surroundings, suffered significant damage in the aftermath. Tragically, on February 2, Hidaya Hamad, the head of the Palestinian Red Crescent Youth and Volunteers Department, was killed by an Israeli sniper during a raid on Amal Hospital. Hamad was attempting to rescue the wounded within the hospital courtyard when she was fatally attacked. Her mother, speaking at her daughter's grave in the hospital courtyard, reflected on Hidaya's dedication to aiding the displaced, emphasizing her love for helping others and the reciprocal affection she received from the community. In a subsequent incident, Israeli forces targeted Hidaya Hamad again as she sought to rescue the wounded at Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis, where thousands of displaced individuals had sought refuge. Tragically, three additional displaced persons were reported killed in the attack. Further illustrating the selfless dedication of those involved in relief efforts, a Palestinian mother, caressing the bare soil of her daughter’s grave, during her first visit after her tragic death. She recounted the night when aid was provided despite the darkness. She spoke of her daughter, Hidaya Hamad, and the overwhelming support she received from the community during her efforts to assist others. Additionally, she highlighted the tireless commitment of officials, who work from eight in the evening until two in the morning, tirelessly providing assistance around the clock.
