Gathering at Wat Phra Dhammakaya Temple, devotees took part in rituals, lighting candles and making wishes as part of the traditional observance. Magha Puja, also known as Makha Bucha Day or Meak Bochea, is a significant Buddhist festival celebrated on the full moon day of the third lunar month in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. It commemorates the gathering of Buddha and his 1,250 disciples, who gathered spontaneously, without prior appointment. During the special gathering, Buddha delivered his fundamental teachings to his disciples. The event usually takes place in February or March. This year’s Makha Bucha Day falls on February 12th.
