  • Story Text: A new landslide rattled Zhouqu county in northwest China's Gansu province, forcing the evacuation of 26 households, state media reported on Thursday (October 7).
    No casualties were reported.
    The 12,000-cubic-meter-landslide came from the south hill in Zhouqu on Wednesday (October 6) afternoon, destroying three houses and leaving another 26 homes in danger.
    Local government officials found the earth on the hill loosened last week, and had evacuated the residents in advance, according to official Xinhua news agency.
    The same town was battered by a massive landslide, China's deadliest in 60 years, in early August, by which over 1,400 people were killed, 294 left missing and more than 15,000 homeless.
    No rain was recorded in the area in the past two days, and authorities in the county are still investigating the cause of the landslide, it said.
