- Story Text: Colourful firework lit up Beijing night on Saturday (January 30) after a truck loaded with thousands of fireworks caught fire, China's Central Television reported.
The 'firework display' in Beijing's rural 6th ring road forced dozens of drivers nearby to stop and watch. Irregular pattern of the firework compelled firefighters to attempt to put out the fire on truck from a distance, the state media said. The firework lasted for over an hour. The truck, which was completely toppled to the ground after the fire, was enroute from Henan Province to Northeast China, CCTV added. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and authorities are still looking for the truck driver who fled the scene immediately after the explosion.
Firework accidents are common in China, where firecrackers are let off enthusiastically at weddings and especially at the start of the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival. - Copyright Holder: CCTV (China) - NO RESALE MAINLAND CHINA
