  • Story Text: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met a Chinese delegation in Pyongyang on Friday (November 30), Chinese state television, CCTV reported.
    Senior Chinese official Li Jianguo, the vice chairman of the Communist Party's new standing committee, pushed for stronger cooperation and regional peace, CCTV said.
    Li also handed Kim a letter from China's president-in-waiting Xi Jinping, Chinese television showed.
    The delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Thursday (November 29), the first visit to the Chinese ally North Korea since Beijing's leadership change.
    Li on Thursday met with North Korean Secretary of the Central Committee of Worker's Party of Korea, Kim Ki-nam and laid flowers at the statues of North Korean late leaders Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il, CCTV said.
    On November 15, Xi Jinping took the helm of the new Politburo Standing Committee, heading a team of seven members in the main decision-making body which will lead the world's second-largest economy for the next five years.
