- Story Text: German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave Chinese Premier Li Keqiang a tour of a local supermarket in Berlin on Friday (October 10), during his visit to the nation, state media reported.
Li was in Berlin for German-Chinese consultations, a bi-annual forum in which senior members of both governments meet to discuss cooperation on a range of issues, from trade and economic policy to foreign and security matters.
On Friday afternoon, after a joint news conference, the two leaders toured a supermarket where Merkel highlighted local products to Li and picked up two cards for Li's family, China's state television, CCTV said on Sunday (October 10).
Before the joint news conference, a series of business deals were signed by two sides including an agreement for European airplane maker Airbus to sell 70 A320 single-aisle jets to China's state purchasing agency, and a 25-year extension of carmaker Volkswagen's joint venture with China's FAW.
Li, on his second visit to Germany as premier, said the Chinese economy had "a lot of room for maneuver."
Li is scheduled to leave Germany on Wednesday (October 15) for Russia, followed by visit in Italy.
