- Story Text: Calvin Klein's Spring 2008 collection hit the runway on Tuesday (September 11) at New York's Fashion Week. Klein's collection adhered to the dramatic lines that the label is best known for.
Models walked down the runway in slim, high-waisted trousers and double panel dresses made from cotton and silk. Knotted string belts that created a serene look added a sense of elegance to the fashions.
The colour palette was dominated by chalk and shades of gray, with just a smatter of bright green and blue.
The designer of this structured collection was Francisco Costa, who has been with the Calvin Klein fashion house for about five years.
"This is still like the emphasis in the waist, but here we are talking about clothes that have a little more ease, because it's Spring, and it should be light," said Costa.
Actresses Kate Bosworth and Rosario Dawson seemed to agree with Costa's idea of ease, with both praising the classicism of his collection.
"He does simple, elegant so so beautifully, " said Bosworth, while Dawson said, "there's something about it that seems very striking and adult."
Queen Noor of Jordan attended her first fashion show by taking in Indian born designer Naeem Khan's new collection, which blended the designer's two cultures: India and America. It is estimated that it costs around 300,000 U.S. dollars to present a new collection.
"It takes about 300 to 400 people to make what I do and they're mostly in India because there are family factories in India but it's still a very, very expensive. Out of the 300,000, 150,000 is just for the clothes."
Queen Noor of Jordan, said she supports Khan's work because it mixes western and eastern culture. She also said fashion has the potential to act as a bridge between disparate cultures.
